Habitat
The turquoise Dacnis's primary habitat encompasses montane evergreen forests, particularly at the forest edges and the upper canopy. These forests are characterized by high humidity, dense foliage, and a rich presence of epiphytes. Secondary habitats include secondary forests, often with Inga and Cordia alliodora plant species. The turquoise Dacnis also occupies cloud forests and can be found in forest fragments and dense vegetation bordering open areas. Additionally, the species adapts to human-modified landscapes, such as shade-grown coffee plantations, especially those that border natural forests and use Cedrela as a shade tree.
