Description
The black-faced dacnis (Dacnis lineata) is a species of bird in the family Thraupidae. It is found in humid forest in the Amazon and the Chocó-Magdalena. The latter population has a yellow (not white) belly and is sometimes considered a separate species, the yellow-tufted dacnis (D. egregia).

The black-faced Dacnis is commonly found in a variety of forest habitats including broken forests, hill forests, plantations, and second-growth areas. It thrives in the canopy layers of both dry and humid forests and is often seen in scattered trees within gardens and clearings. Additionally, black-faced Dacnis utilizes forest borders and may occasionally occupy gallery or riverine forests. This species is also known to inhabit areas with agricultural modifications, such as shade-coffee plantations.
