Black-banded Woodcreeper predominantly feeds on arthropods and small vertebrates. It utilizes specialized foraging methods to extract prey from crevices in wood and other vegetation. This woodcreeper exhibits adaptability in feeding times and demonstrates unique behaviors suited to its varied diet.
Habitat
Black-banded Woodcreeper is typically found in a variety of forested environments including tropical lowlands, upper tropical zones, and lower temperate highlands. It inhabits deciduous, semi-deciduous, and humid evergreen forests, as well as cloudforests and pine-oak woodlands. The species thrives in the interior of mature forests that have an open understory, but it can also be spotted in older second growths and at forest edges. Geographically, black-banded Woodcreeper encompasses regions ranging from Amazonian terra firme and floodplain forests to montane areas, with elevational distributions varying broadly from lowlands up to 3000 meters in certain Central American highlands.
