Feeding Habits
Fulvous-breasted Woodpecker, an insectivorous and frugivorous bird, primarily feeds on invertebrates and fruits. It utilizes pecking and drilling techniques on tree trunks to hunt prey, and shows a preference for specific types of insects, supplemented by seasonal fruits.
Habitat
The fulvous-breasted Woodpecker predominantly resides in a variety of forest habitats, including subtropical or tropical dry forests, moist lowland, and moist montane terrains. Broadly, the species is adapted to regions characterized by open and damp mixed forests, both on lowlands and uplands. Fulvous-breasted Woodpecker shows a preference for forest edges, secondary growths, and open areas with scattered trees, including plantations and gardens. Habitually, it can also be found in bamboo stands and alongside dry riverbeds. In mountainous areas, such as the Himalayas, fulvous-breasted Woodpecker is present in tall deciduous woods, particularly those with a mix of Bombax and Ficus, as well as in tropical dry deciduous scrub.
