Description
The spotted whistling duck (Dendrocygna guttata) is a member of the duck family Anatidae. It is distributed throughout the southern Philippines, Wallacea and New Guinea. It has recently colonised Australia, with a small population now resident at Weipa on the western coast of Cape York Peninsula.

Feeding Habits
Spotted Whistling Duck consumes a diet of grass seeds and small snails, foraging primarily at night by dabbling at the water's edge, filtering the surface, and occasionally diving. It often forages in mixed flocks.
Habitat
The habitat of spotted Whistling Duck typically encompasses the margins of a variety of wetlands including freshwater swamps, lakes, pools, marshes, as well as mangrove systems. They are also found along creeks and rivers, with these aquatic environments often being bordered by grasslands and interspersed with scattered trees, all within lowland regions.
