Feeding Habits
Long-tailed Wood-partridge primarily feeds on seeds, small fruits, leaves, and arthropods. It forages on the ground, demonstrating a varied diet suggestive of omnivorous preferences with unique adaptations for both plant and invertebrate consumption.
Habitat
Long-tailed Wood-partridge thrives in mountainous and forested habitats across broader highland regions. It favors humid, montane environments such as pine-oak, fir, and evergreen forests with a dense underbrush, although the canopy may be more open. Typically found at elevations ranging from 1,280 to 3,300 meters, long-tailed Wood-partridge is often associated with undisturbed habitats. Despite being a generalist at the microhabitat level, it shows a strong preference for specific plant associations, particularly in forests subject to commercial exploitation.
