Feeding Habits
Crested Drongo primarily consumes invertebrates and fruits, including spiders, beetles, flies, grasshoppers, wasps, cicadas, dragonflies, and occasionally small vertebrates like chameleons. Crested Drongo displays versatile foraging techniques, such as aerial sallies from perches and piecemeal feeding. It often hunts in middle-to-upper canopies, both solo and in mixed-species flocks, adapting its hunting methods within groups to target different prey like ground-dwelling arthropods and air-borne insects.
Habitat
Crested Drongo is commonly located in a range of wooded habitats including primary and secondary forests, from riverine and humid areas to dry and spiny forests, and degraded woodlands. It thrives in altitudes up to 1875m on Madagascar, while in the highlands above 1000m, it is mostly confined to natural forests. Additionally, crested Drongo inhabits plantations such as pine, eucalypts, and sisal, as well as orchards, agricultural areas with sparse trees, and urban gardens. This species favors forest edges and clearings, often perching on man-made structures, and rarely undertakes long-distance flights. On the Comoros, similar environs are occupied, including cultivated zones with sizeable trees and coconut plantations.

Insectivorous
