Feeding Habits
Grey-bellied Flowerpiercer primarily feeds on nectar and insects, with stomach content analysis showing a significant insect presence. While breeding, they occur in pairs; otherwise, they're solitary and territorial. Known for their aggressive flower patch defense, grey-bellied Flowerpiercer exhibits highly active behavior, often remaining hidden or making fleeting appearances. They forage from foliage and execute brief flights to catch insects, similar to D. brunneiventris.
Habitat
The grey-bellied Flowerpiercer is typically found in dry montane scrub and scrubby woodland at the tree-line. It also inhabits settled areas with hedgerows, gardens, and brush, and is occasionally observed in light woodland within semi-humid and humid regions.
