Description
The moustached flowerpiercer (Diglossa mystacalis) is a species of bird in the family Thraupidae. It was first described by French ornithologist Frédéric de Lafresnaye in 1846. It is found in Bolivia and Peru. Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical moist montane forests, subtropical or tropical high-altitude grassland, and heavily degraded former forest.

Moustached Flowerpiercer primarily consumes insects and nectar from various flowers. Typically forages alone within mixed-species flocks, maneuvering through dense foliage at middle to upper levels.
Habitat
Moustached Flowerpiercer inhabits a variety of montane environments, predominantly consisting of humid woodland areas, elfin forests, and woody shrublands. These birds are also found in drier scrubby woodlands particularly in the southernmost parts of their range. They show a preference for regions where the forest approaches the upper limit of tree growth.
