Description
Bertoni's antbird (Drymophila rubricollis) is a species of bird in the family Thamnophilidae. It is found in the Atlantic Forest of south-eastern Brazil, eastern Paraguay and far north-eastern Argentina (Misiones). It was formerly considered conspecific with the very similar ferruginous antbird. The bird's common name commemorates the ornithologist Arnoldo de Winkelried Bertoni (1857–1929).

Feeding Habits
Bertoni's Antbird primarily feeds on insects like lepidopteran larvae and orthopterans, occasionally spiders. They forage in bamboo at a mean height of 3.9m, in a horizontal posture with characteristic tail and wing movements, employing short hops and scans for prey. Rarely, they extend to broadleaf trees but exhibit preference for bamboo habitats.
Habitat
The habitat of bertoni's Antbird predominantly consists of understory and mid-story regions within bamboo thickets, situated in both montane and lowland evergreen forests. While in southern ranges, bertoni's Antbird is found at low elevations near sea level, towards the north, it typically inhabits areas restricted to higher altitudes. In these northern habitats, bertoni's Antbird occasionally shares the same bamboo stands with other specific bird species but generally does not coexist in the same locations with certain species due to elevational separation.
