Description
The plain-crested elaenia (Elaenia cristata) is a species of bird in the family Tyrannidae. It is found in Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, French Guiana, Guyana, Peru, Suriname, and Venezuela. Its natural habitats are dry savanna, subtropical or tropical dry shrubland, and subtropical or tropical seasonally wet or flooded lowland grassland.

Feeding Habits
Plain-crested Elaenia predominantly consumes insects and berries, adopting perch-gleaning and fluttery hover-gleans for foraging. With a high perch, plain-crested Elaenia executes aerial sallies and hover-gleans as feeding strategies, also incorporating fruits in its diet occasionally.
Habitat
The habitat of plain-crested Elaenia is predominantly associated with open areas, particularly natural savannas and park-like savanna woodlands, which feature trees such as Curatella and Brysonima. They are also found in scrubby thickets, cerrado regions, and arid rainshadow valleys, as well as along river margins dominated by vegetation like Tessaria.
