Description
The slaty elaenia (Elaenia strepera) is a species of bird in the family Tyrannidae. It is found in the Southern Andean Yungas ; it winters in the western Amazon Basin, Colombia and Venezuela. Its natural habitat is subtropical or tropical dry forests.

Feeding Habits
Slaty Elaenia primarily feeds on insects and berries. Slaty Elaenia's feeding behavior includes both perch-gleaning and hover-gleaning, and occasionally catching aerial insects in a swallow-like manner. Typically solitary or in pairs, slaty Elaenia can join mixed-species flocks and forages discretely within dense foliage or on open branches.
Habitat
The slaty Elaenia predominantly occupies woodland and forest borders, frequently found in proximity to streams. In its breeding season, it prefers mid-elevation forests, whereas during migration and the austral winter, it opts for shrubby openings, along with forest borders and canopy, generally at lower elevations.
