Description
The crested bunting (Emberiza lathami) is a species of bird in the family Emberizidae, from the northern regions of the Indian Subcontinent stretching eastward to Southeast Asia.

Feeding Habits
Crested Bunting primarily consumes small grass and weed seeds, fallen grains, and occasionally practises flycatching, particularly alate ants. Their nestlings are fed insect larvae. They forage on the ground, often along roadsides or burnt grassland, and roost in dense thickets with other small birds. Crested Bunting is generally seen in pairs or small groups and is known for a confiding nature.
Habitat
Crested Bunting typically dwells in subtropical or tropical grasslands, preferring open and dry environments. Its habitat includes grassy or rocky hillsides and cultivated terraces with scattered bushes and rock outcrops. Found across broad geographical regions, crested Bunting inhabits elevations up to 2440 meters during summer, descending to lower grasslands and scrub-jungle edges in winter.
