Description
The Pampa finch (Embernagra platensis), also known as the great Pampa-finch, is a species of bird. It was traditionally placed in the family Emberizidae but molecular phylogenetic studies have shown that it is a member of the tanager family Thraupidae.

Feeding Habits
Great Pampa-finch primarily feasts on seeds and arthropods, the latter being crucial during breeding. Forages on the ground and may follow army ants. Often feeds in pairs or family groups.
Habitat
Great Pampa-finch predominantly occupies open and semi-open areas, such as subtropical or tropical high-altitude shrubland and temperate grasslands. Residing in moist regions, they are often found near the edges of marshes and in seasonally wet grasslands. The species favors environments with a balance of grass and shrubs, up to elevations of 2500 meters, and may inhabit cultivated lands when adapting to human-altered landscapes.
