Description
The galah is a small, attractive cockatoo that is often seen in suburban areas. Noisy, playful, and friendly, it has a distinctive high-pitched call. As it likes to feast on agricultural crops, the galah accepted the spread of farming very well. Gathered in large flocks, these parrots can devastate full fields and thus are often considered agricultural pests. Stella, a character from "Angry Birds" is based on this species.

Feeding Habits
Galah, a highly adaptable forager, primarily feeds on seeds, grains, nuts, fruits, berries, roots, and shoots. Galah also supplements its diet with insects and larvae. This bird showcases diverse feeding behaviors, often foraging on the ground in flocks, which reflects its opportunistic dietary preferences.
Habitat
Galah thrive in a variety of open habitats that include scattered trees for shelter. Preferring semi-arid to arid environments, their natural habitats span woodlands and grasslands. However, with human expansion, galah have adeptly adapted to agricultural landscapes and suburban parks. They are now a common sight in metropolitan areas, and their range has broadened, making coastal regions part of their extended habitat.

Distribution Area
Galahs are found in all Australian states, and are absent only from the driest areas and the far north of Cape York Peninsula. Whether they are native to Tasmania is still uncertain, though records exist from as early as the 1840s, and they are locally common today, especially in urban areas. They are common in some metropolitan areas, for example Adelaide, Perth, and Melbourne.
