Description
The sapphire-vented puffleg (Eriocnemis luciani) is a species of hummingbird in the family Trochilidae. It is found in Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, and Venezuela. Its natural habitat is subtropical or tropical moist montane forest. It sometimes includes the coppery-naped puffleg as a subspecies.

Sapphire-vented Puffleg resides primarily in humid montane forests where the environment includes forest edges and elfin forests. These birds favor areas with dense vegetation such as humid Polylepis woodlands as well as the shrubby, grassy landscapes characteristic of the paramo ecosystem.
