Description
In its coloration, morphology and acrobatic habits, this bird resembles a vireo quite a lot. However, it has a prominent crest like many yuhinas, which together with the unusual biogeography has served to obscure its true relationships for a long time. The crested head, back, wings and tail of this bird are olivaceous or golden brown while the underparts are white. Erpornis possesses well-developed musculature for gaping or opening the bill forcefully and may use this to pry bark from trees to seek insects.

Feeding Habits
White-bellied Erpornis's diet consists of grasshoppers, bush-crickets, various insects and larvae, soft figs, berries, flower nectar, and occasionally seeds. This species forages solitarily or in small groups, often joining mixed-species flocks. It frequents lower canopies, feeding acrobatically, sometimes hanging upside-down.
Habitat
The white-bellied Erpornis populates various forested environments, ranging from broadleaf evergreen and secondary growth forests to selectively logged and light deciduous forests. It also resides in mixed broadleaf-pine forests, moss forests, and bamboo thickets. In addition, the white-bellied Erpornis can be found in upland heath and overgrown plantations in certain regions. Its habitat spans across the broader geographical regions of the Indian Subcontinent and Southeast Asia, including significant forested areas within these zones.
