Description
Euphonia minuta measures approximately 9.5 cm (3.7 in). Both sexes have a whitish midbelly and crissum. Males are blue-black above with a yellow forehead. Their throats are purple-black and their underparts are bright yellow. Females are olive-green above with whitish throats. Their calls consist of single notes, beem or seeu.

White-vented Euphonia's diet primarily consists of mistletoe berries, various small fruits, and insects. White-vented Euphonia employs active foraging tactics, often seen gleaning foliage for food. This bird has a notable preference for mistletoe berries which distinguishes its diet from others.
Habitat
White-vented Euphonia typically inhabit the canopies and borders of moist lowland tropical forests. They are more prevalent in humid and wet regions, preferring the edges of these ecosystems and occasionally venturing into the canopy of large trees in clearings near tall forests. White-vented Euphonia predominantly resides in the lowland areas, usually up to about 500 meters above sea level, although they have been observed at higher elevations such as 1500 meters in Costa Rica, 1000 meters locally in Colombia, 700 meters in Western Ecuador, and around 1000 meters in Peru.

White-vented euphonias often associate with other Euphonia species, forming mixed species flocks.
Distribution Area
Euphonia minuta is found in two disjunct populations. The first ranges from southern Mexico south along the Pacific coast to northwestern Ecuador, the second across northern South America from the eastern Andean foothills as far east as the state of Pará in Brazil, and south to northern Bolivia. Its natural habitats are the canopies and borders of moist woodland.
