Feeding Habits
Azure Dollarbird predominantly preys on flying insects such as buprestid beetles, capturing them in a similar manner to its relative E. orientalis. It showcases unique aerial hunting techniques.
Habitat
Azure Dollarbird primarily inhabits subtropical or tropical moist lowland forests, selectively logged woodlands, forest edges, and clearings. This species also adapts to human-modified landscapes, including plantations, coconut groves, and gardens close to forests. The elevation range of azure Dollarbird extends from lowlands up to 600 meters. Despite being more common than previously believed, azure Dollarbird is still experiencing population declines due to habitat loss and is currently classified as Near Threatened.
