  Feeding Habits
Zapata Wren primarily feeds on insects, spiders, small snails, and lizards, supplementing its diet with berries. It exhibits specialized foraging behavior, adept at extracting prey from within dense swamp vegetation, indicative of its unique dietary adaptations to its habitat.
    Habitat
Zapata Wren is typically found in savanna-type swamp environments, characterized by freshwater marshes and lowland savanna featuring scattered bushes and low trees. The predominant vegetation within its habitat includes sawgrass (Cladium jamaicense) and Southern cattail (Typha dominguensis). These birds utilize the scattered bushes as songposts, which are an essential aspect of their habitat. The water levels in these areas vary seasonally, with standing water present during the rainy season and significantly reduced or absent during dry periods.
