Feeding Habits
Rufous-chested Flycatcher's diet mainly consists of small invertebrates such as spiders, cockroaches, beetles, mole crickets, and flies, with rare consumption of plant matter. They forage solitarily or in pairs, often near streams within dense, low-lying vegetation, and exhibit aerial insect pursuit. Distinctive behaviors include wing flicking and tail cocking when disturbed or chasing prey.
Habitat
The habitat of rufous-chested Flycatcher typically comprises the understorey and bamboo areas within lowland to lower montane primary forests, as well as moist forests. Rufous-chested Flycatcher is prevalent in forest interiors, adapting well to both untouched and selectively logged or regenerated forests across broader geographical regions such as the Malay Peninsula, Borneo, Sumatra, Java, Lombok, Sumbawa, and Flores.
