Description
The rufous-gorgeted flycatcher (Ficedula strophiata) is a species of bird in the family Muscicapidae. It is found in the Indian Subcontinent and Southeast Asia, ranging across Bangladesh, Bhutan, Hong Kong, India, Laos, Myanmar, Nepal, Thailand, and Vietnam. Its natural habitat is subtropical or tropical moist montane forests. The rufous-gorgeted flycatcher is also common in the northern Kachin State of Myanmar, in temperate forest areas near boreal mountains. They spend winters in places like Thailand, North Laos, and Vietnam, and the Himalayas are a major breeding range. As the name denotes, they are known for their reddish brown color with a distinctly colored patch on their throat.

Feeding Habits
Rufous-gorgeted Flycatcher's diet comprises small invertebrates. Typically found alone or in pairs, it forages in undergrowth and on the forest floor to middle tree levels, sometimes perching low. It displays tail-spreading behavior when alarmed.
Habitat
The habitat of rufous-gorgeted Flycatcher comprises dense to open broadleaf forests, areas where coniferous and broadleaf trees intermingle, and thick secondary scrub along with forest edges. These birds are found in regions typified by such vegetative environments within broader geographical areas that include the Himalayas and parts of China. During the non-breeding season, rufous-gorgeted Flycatcher occupies similar habitats but at generally lower altitudes, often in more accessible forested areas.
