Feeding Habits
Black-throated Antshrike chiefly consumes insects and arthropods such as beetles, ants, moth larvae, and spiders. It forages alone or in pairs, employing a stabbing bill-motion to glean prey from foliage and ground litter, often following army ant swarms to find food.

The black-throated Antshrike typically occupies the understorey of lowland evergreen forests, thriving on sandy soils. It shows a preference for densely vegetated areas that experience natural disturbances like treefalls, which create light-gaps within these primary forests.
