Description
Description
They are usually black with a white band over the rump and white under the wings and on the flanks. A broad black stripe runs down the center of the belly, but may be broken or absent altogether. They have long legs, so the feet can be seen beyond the tail in flight. The legs and feet are black. They are silent mostly at sea. Noises can be heard from the breeding colonies; birds on the ground give a drawn-out shrill whistle.

Feeding Habits
Black-bellied Storm-petrel consumes squid, crustaceans, and small fish. They forage by surface-seizing and display nocturnal feeding. Unique adaptations include their ability to sniff out prey in the dark ocean waters.
Habitat
Black-bellied Storm-petrel predominantly resides in marine environments and is considered highly pelagic, rarely venturing close to land except near its breeding colonies. These birds are usually associated with cool ocean currents. The broader geographical regions for their habitat include offshore islands and stacks. The nesting sites of black-bellied Storm-petrel are typically found on bare rocky or scree slopes and occasionally within dense vegetation or peat-covered areas, while they actively avoid regions covered with snow and ice.
