Feeding Habits
White-eared Jacamar primarily consumes insects such as Hymenoptera and Lepidoptera. Its sturdy bill indicates a preference for larger or harder prey compared to similar species. White-eared Jacamar forages from mid-level to canopy, often along edges, perching alone or in groups to snatch flying insects from the air, typically returning to the same branch.
Habitat
The white-eared Jacamar predominantly resides in the lowland humid primary forests, both terra firme and várzea types, as well as secondary forests. These environments typically feature regions near forest clearings, and alongside rivers and streams, with a propensity for settling in areas surrounding youthful river islands.
