Feeding Habits
Purplish Jacamar's diet likely resembles that of its close relative, G. ruficauda, feeding on insects through sallies from perches at various heights. Observed foraging near bees' nests suggests a possible preference for bees.
Habitat
The purplish Jacamar typically inhabits the edges, clearings, and treefalls within primary and secondary terra firme forests, as well as sand-belt woodlands. This species is often found in proximity to rivers or streams in broad tropical regions, favoring environments that provide a dense canopy for shelter and feeding.
