Blue-necked Jacamar preys on insects like beetles, bees, ants, and flies, capturing them mid-flight from a perch. It may also consume butterflies and dragonflies, exhibiting a sallying hunting technique.
Habitat
The blue-necked Jacamar inhabits primarily the lower strata of lowland evergreen forests, including both interior regions and forest edges. It is particularly associated with light gaps in terra firme forests and is commonly found in várzea forests, which are seasonally flooded, as well as in gallery forests within the cerrado regions.
