Description
The grey-fronted quail-dove (Geotrygon caniceps) is a species of bird in the family Columbidae. Endemic to the island of Cuba, its natural habitats include subtropical or tropical moist lowland forest, subtropical or tropical swamps, subtropical or tropical moist montane forest, and plantations. It is threatened by habitat loss. It was previously considered a subspecies of the grey-headed quail-dove, which is now split into the grey-fronted quail-dove (Geotrygon caniceps) endemic to Cuba, and the white-fronted quail-dove (Geotrygon leucometopia) endemic to Hispaniola.

Grey-fronted Quail-dove primarily consume seeds and small invertebrates, including insects, grubs, and caterpillars. They forage on the ground with a preference for certain seeds, showcasing unique dietary choices.
Habitat
Grey-fronted Quail-dove inhabits mainly tropical lowland forests and secondary growths, thriving in both arid regions with perennial water bodies and extremely humid forests adjoining swamps. It is found in lower montane and highland forests up to 1200 meters, such as Pico Turquino, with a preference for damper environments compared to some sympatric species. Broader geographical regions of its habitat extend from sea level to mid-elevation areas within tropical zones.
