Description
The ruddy quail-dove is approximately 19–28 cm in length. The bird is distinguished by having a rust-colored back, facial mask and similarly colored wings. The breast, rump and undereye stripe are lighter brown.

Habitat
The ruddy Quail-dove is typically found in the understory of lowland evergreen forests, which serves as its primary habitat. Aside from evergreen forests, these birds also inhabit tall second growth areas, semi-deciduous forests, and are known to dwell within agricultural landscapes such as coffee and cacao plantations.
