Feeding Habits
Large-billed Gerygone primarily preys on spiders and insects including beetles, bugs, wasps, moths, and grasshoppers. Large-billed Gerygone is known for foraging alone or in small groups, adept at gleaning from foliage and sallying to the ground or hovering to catch prey from various surfaces.
Habitat
The large-billed Gerygone typically resides in mangrove ecosystems but also inhabits a variety of woodland areas including riparian and littoral zones, as well as paperbark, rainforest, and open eucalypt woodlands. While in North Western Australia large-billed Gerygone is mainly found in mangroves, its habitat range is broader in other regions, often encompassing riparian scrub, bamboo close to water, forest edges, and occasionally near human settlements in mango trees. Large-billed Gerygone is generally found in areas close to water sources.
