10 cm
Feeding Habits
Brown-breasted Gerygone primarily consumes insects, often foraging alone, in pairs, or with family. Actively feeds at various heights, from understory to canopy, favoring casuarinas. Employs gleaning, hovering, and sallying to catch prey and sometimes joins mixed-species flocks for feeding.
Habitat
The brown-breasted Gerygone predominantly resides in a variety of forested areas ranging from primary forests, forest edges, and secondary growth, to human-modified landscapes such as gardens and cultivated zones with casuarina trees. This species also adapts to urban environments, including towns and villages, and can be found in subalpine grasslands with tree-ferns, indicating a broad adaptability to different arboreal habitats in the broader region of Southeast New Guinea.
