Description
The Andean pygmy owl (Glaucidium jardinii) is a species of owl in the family Strigidae. It is found in Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, and Venezuela. Its natural habitat is subtropical or tropical moist montane forests.

Feeding Habits

Habitat
Andean Pygmy Owl typically inhabits a range of montane ecosystems from semi-arid to humid environments. Its preferred habitats include open cloudforests, elfin forests, and highland forests extending to Polylepis woodlands. The bird can also be found in semi-open lands and wooded ravines that may transition into swampy or grassy areas. Andean Pygmy Owl frequents both the canopy and middle levels of forests, often near forest edges, and may occasionally venture into pastures that have scattered trees. It is generally found at elevations from around 1500 to 3500 meters or higher.
