The scaled antpitta (Grallaria guatimalensis) is a species of bird in the family Grallariidae. It is found in Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Guyana, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Peru, Trinidad and Tobago, and Venezuela. Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical moist lowland forests and subtropical or tropical moist montane forests.

Feeding Habits
Scaled Antpitta primarily consume arthropods and small vertebrates, such as frogs. They forage by walking and probing the ground, showcasing unique adaptations for extracting prey from leaf litter.
Habitat
The scaled Antpitta predominantly resides in a variety of lush habitats. Typically found in humid evergreen forests, pine-oak woodlands, and fir forests, these birds adapt to both lowland rainforests and areas of significant second growth. The species thrives amidst dense vegetation and tangled undergrowth, which provide essential cover. Scaled Antpitta are commonly encountered at altitudes ranging from 500 to 2500 meters but have been occasionally spotted from as low as 200 meters up to heights of 2800 meters. Their presence is widespread across broader neotropical montane regions.
