Description
This hummingbird is sexually dimorphic, but only slightly. Both sexes are shining green above with a small white postocular spot and a blue-black tail. Their lower underparts are also shining green bordered above by a white pectoral collar. The male has a reddish pink throat that extends from the white collar to almost the base of the bill. The female has a black chin with white stripes and a smaller reddish pink throat patch.

Feeding Habits
Gorgeted Sunangel, likely territorial and found in damp bushy ravines, feeds primarily on low flowers, with occasional foraging in subcanopy areas, while staying close to cover and avoiding open spaces.
Habitat
The gorgeted Sunangel predominantly inhabits humid and wet pre-montane forests, as well as adjacent shrubby forest borders and thickets. The species is typically found in subtropical zones, although it can also reside in temperate zones within broader geographical regions characterized by these general environmental conditions.
