  Feeding Habits
Spot-backed Antwren primarily consumes insects, notably orthopterans and lepidopteran larvae, and likely spiders. Typically foraging 15–30 meters above ground in pairs or groups within mixed-species flocks, spot-backed Antwren searches for prey methodically by hopping and pausing to scan foliage. Prey is gleaned from leaves, often via quick stabs or lunges, occasionally with hovering or fluttering, rarely using acrobatic moves.
    Habitat
Spot-backed Antwren typically inhabits the canopy and subcanopy layers of humid, lowland evergreen forests. These environments are characterized by dense foliage and often include areas with rich vine growth. Spot-backed Antwren is adapted to living in ecosystems such as seasonally flooded black-water forests, known as igapó, and the tall terra firme forests. Less frequently, spot-backed Antwren can be found in stunted campina woodlands that thrive on nutrient-poor white-sand soils.
