It has a forearm length of approximately 50.5 mm (1.99 in). It has a nose-leaf with two lateral leaflets.

It is endemic to Indonesia. Its range encompasses several islands of Indonesia, including Halmahera, Bacan, Gebe, Biak, Supiori, Numfoor, and Vogelkop Peninsula of New Guinea.

Behavior
Geelvinck bay leaf-nosed bat demonstrate nocturnal habits, emerging from their roosts at dusk to forage for insects. They are effective navigators, opting for echo-location, and are most noticeable during their distinctive communal roosting where multiple individuals cluster together, promoting heat conservation. Their survival is highly dependent on their agility in flight and adept sonic perception under low light conditions.
