Feeding Habits
Golden-collared Honeycreeper's diet consists primarily of berries, Cecropia catkins, nectar, and some insects. They exhibit foraging behaviors in upper tree levels, often moving rapidly and joining mixed-species flocks. Unique for their selective insect consumption compared to Tangara birds, golden-collared Honeycreeper also feeds on fruit, seeds, and flower petals, with a preference for feeding high in the canopy.
Habitat
The golden-collared Honeycreeper typically inhabits the canopy of humid and wet forests, including the borders of mossy forests, regions with older secondary growth, and areas with irregular terrain or disturbances such as landslides and forest openings, prevalent in broader tropical regions of the Andes.
