Feeding Habits
Mountain Bulbul is a generalist, consuming a varied diet of fruits, insects, and possibly nectar. It forages in pairs or groups, often joining mixed-species flocks. Mountain Bulbul plucks fruits during mid-air hover and sallies from perches to catch insects or extract them from spider webs.
Habitat
The mountain Bulbul is predominantly found in the canopies of broadleaf evergreen forests, including diverse wooded environments like oak and rhododendron forests, as well as pine-dominated areas. It adapts well to a variety of secondary habitats ranging from forest edges, scattered shrubbery, regenerating growth, to vegetated roadsides. It may also inhabit gardens and areas with fern clusters or recover from landslides, extending to elfin forests on mountain peaks. The elevation range for this species is approximately 800–2700 meters, with a notable density around 1800–2100 meters in broader geographical regions such as the Indian subcontinent, southern China, Indochina, and the Malay Peninsula.
