Description
Dark-eyed juncoss are medium-sized sparrows that can be seen in forests, open fields, and towns. They typically dine on the usual: insects, seeds, and the occasional peanut. But they are also known to eat their own droppings! Ewwww! That said, to perhaps prevent this unsavory act, you may want to put out some more palatable snacks for them; this species is one of the most popular and frequent visitors to home bird feeders within their range.
