Description
The pied triller (Lalage nigra) is a species of bird in the family Campephagidae. It is found in Brunei, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, and Thailand.

Feeding Habits
Pied Triller primarily feeds on fruit and arthropods, with caterpillars constituting a significant part of its diet. This bird exhibits foraging behaviors that enable it to hunt and consume a variety of prey, especially adapted to extract caterpillars from their hiding places.
Habitat
The pied Triller predominantly inhabits a variety of lowland habitats, ranging from open woodlands to forest edges. It thrives in human-altered landscapes such as farmlands, roadsides, and gardens within villages and towns. The pied Triller is also found in cultivation areas, plantations, coastal scrublands, mangroves, and groves of casuarina trees. A preference for large trees, particularly those with divided leaves, is notable. The species occurs from sea level up to elevations of 1000 meters and has been recorded at heights up to 1550 meters in Peninsula Malaysia.
