Meves's starling (Lamprotornis mevesii) or Meves's glossy-starling, is a species of starling in the family Sturnidae. It is found in Angola, Botswana, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, Zambia, and Zimbabwe. Its common name and Latin binomial commemorate the German ornithologist Friederich Wilhelm Meves.

Feeding Habits
Meves's Starling mainly consumes insects, such as termites, beetles, ants, mole-crickets, and psyllid nymphs, supplemented by fruit like Diospyros mespiliformis and Acacia albida. They forage on the ground, often following elephants to catch disturbed insects. Meves's Starling forms pairs or small flocks, with larger groups congregating outside of breeding season.
Habitat
The habitat of meves's Starling primarily consists of open woodlands with tall trees such as acacias, mopane, and baobabs, typically featuring a sparse understory with significant stretches of bare ground. These birds show a preference for miombo woodlands and can often be found in seasonally flooded areas, favoring generally level terrain within these ecosystems.
