Feeding Habits
White-throated Crake consumes a diversified diet including insects, spiders, grass and sedge seeds, algae, and fruits. They forage mostly on the ground, skillfully using their beak to sift through vegetation, displaying a strong preference for wetland habitats.
Habitat
White-throated Crake primarily inhabits marshy environments, including wet fields, damp grassy pastures, and the overgrown banks of water bodies such as ditches, canals, ponds, and streams. They are also found in drying stream beds, thickets, and forest clearings. Although white-throated Crake is often associated with grassy areas rather than open water, especially in regions like Colombia, it does not strictly require standing water for its habitat. Geographically, white-throated Crake occupies lowland regions up to elevations of approximately 1600 meters.
