Feeding Habits
Scaled Woodcreeper's diet primarily consists of arthropods, inferred from limited stomach content samples. Scaled Woodcreeper forages alone or in pairs, often joining mixed-species flocks, but remains solitary during breeding season. Scaled Woodcreeper typically forages by hitching up tree trunks and along slender branches, from mid-levels to the canopy.
Habitat
The scaled Woodcreeper is primarily found in the Atlantic Forest regions, thriving in both humid and semi-humid environments. This bird species favors montane evergreen forests and lowland rainforests, commonly on the Atlantic slope, and to a lesser extent in gallery forests. One subspecies of scaled Woodcreeper is adapted to drier areas, inhabiting semi-deciduous and deciduous woodlands, often in regions where most foliage is shed during the dry season. Scaled Woodcreeper typically resides in the mature forest interiors, older secondary growths, and forest peripheries.
