Description
Description
The blue-rumped manakin (Lepidothrix isidorei) is a species of bird in the family Pipridae. It is found in Colombia, Ecuador, and Peru. Its natural habitat is montane forest and, in Ecuador, the species is considered a foothill specialty. These tiny manakins, which average 8 cm (3.1 in) in length, are infrequently encountered away from their leks, where the black, white-capped and blue backed males display for female attentions.

Feeding Habits
Blue-rumped Manakin likely has similar feeding habits to L. coronata, suggesting a diet consisting mainly of fruits and insects. Blue-rumped Manakin forages actively, plucking food while moving swiftly through vegetation. Specific dietary adaptations remain undocumented, but the general behavior typical of manakins is expected.
Habitat
The blue-rumped Manakin predominantly resides in the humid forests of the Andean foothills. These habitats are characterized by high humidity and dense vegetation, providing an ideal environment for the blue-rumped Manakin to thrive. The general terrestrial biome where the blue-rumped Manakin is found corresponds to tropical and subtropical moist broadleaf forests. These areas are known for their biodiversity and complex ecosystem structure, which support the specialized feeding and breeding behaviors of the blue-rumped Manakin.
