The pallid dove (Leptotila pallida) is a species of bird in the family Columbidae. It is found in western Colombia, Ecuador and far northern Peru. Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical moist lowland forests and heavily degraded former forest. The pallid dove is a typically ground bird, commonly sited walking on roads or trails. It has a unique low-pitched, single “hoo” call. The first descriptor of the bird was von Berlepsch Taczanowski in 1884. The bird has a brown-hued unmarked back; the neck and underparts are gray, also with streaks of brown. The orbital skin is red and the bill is black.
