Feeding Habits
Steere's Liocichla consumes insects like grasshoppers, worms, small fruits, berries, and seeds. They forage in low vegetation, adapt to feed on tourist-discarded foods in winter, and can eat remains of deceased conspecifics. These birds, often found alone or in small groups, are not shy and may join mixed-species flocks.
Habitat
Steere's Liocichla primarily inhabits broadleaf evergreen forests and mixed broadleaf-coniferous forests. These birds are also found in areas with forest edges, tangled shrubbery, and orchards, suggesting a preference for dense vegetation and a degree of canopy cover. Steere's Liocichla is associated with the broader geographical regions that support these types of environments.
