Feeding Habits
Black-crested Coquette primarily feeds on nectar from a variety of small, insect-pollinated flowers, including species like Clusia and Stachytarpheta. It also consumes small arthropods. Its foraging is adapted to mass-flowering trees and brushy hedgerows.
Habitat
The black-crested Coquette thrives in environments at the periphery of humid montane and lowland evergreen forests. It favors the openings within these verdant expanses, as well as the vegetated hedge divides that fragment the terrain. This species is adapted to regions where forest canopies intermingle with sunlit clearings, allowing for a blend of cover and foraging opportunities.
