Description

The yellow-crested tanager (Loriotus rufiventer) is a species of bird in the family Thraupidae. It is found in the western Amazon Basin (Peru, Acre and northwestern Bolivia). Its natural habitat is subtropical or tropical moist lowland forests.

The yellow-crested Tanager thrives primarily in humid tropical lowland evergreen forests and secondary forests. It is most commonly found in the upper to subcanopy layers and infrequently ventures into the understory. The yellow-crested Tanager favors terra firme and várzea forests, is less often observed at forest edges, and can occasionally be found in tropical dry forests, lower montane forests, and even coffee plantations, with varying commonality.
