Feeding Habits
Cattle Tyrant, primarily an insectivore, actively forages for insects on the ground or takes them from the backs of cattle. Exhibits unique behavior of following large animals to capture disturbed prey.
Habitat
The cattle Tyrant is commonly found in a variety of open and semi-open habitats predominantly across tropical lowland areas. These habitats include savannahs, pasturelands dotted with shrubs and trees, parklands, agricultural fields, and urban gardens. While cattle Tyrant favors drier regions at elevations generally below 300 meters, it may sometimes be encountered up to 1000 meters and has been noted as a vagrant at 3600 meters in Venezuela. However, cattle Tyrant typically avoids woodlands and densely forested areas, preferring areas that are more open to the sky.
