Description
The long-trained nightjar (Macropsalis forcipata) is a species of nightjar in the family Caprimulgidae. It is monotypic within the genus Macropsalis. It is found in forests, mainly in highlands, in south-eastern Brazil and far north-eastern Argentina.

Feeding Habits
Long-trained Nightjar's diet consists mainly of insects, captured in flight near trees or attracted to artificial lights. Long-trained Nightjar's feeding behavior includes skimming over leaves and making short forays from the ground to snag prey.
Habitat
The habitat of long-trained Nightjar primarily comprises forests and woodlands, including second-growth forests and areas at forest edges. In the northern parts of its range, long-trained Nightjar shows a predilection for forested areas within more mountainous terrains, predominately inhabiting regions that feature general environmental conditions associated with forest ecosystems.
